79th Independence Day: A Deep Dive into Pakistan’s “Marka-e-Haq” Themed Celebrations

Across Pakistan, people are gearing up to celebrate the nation’s 79th Independence Day on August 14 with a heightened sense of national pride. Cities are being adorned with Pakistani flags, festive lights, and vibrant decorations. Streets and markets are bustling with vendors selling green-and-white merchandise, and citizens are decorating their homes and vehicles to show their patriotism.

This year’s celebrations are particularly meaningful, taking place under the official theme “Marka-e-Haq,” which translates to “The Righteous Campaign.” This theme was chosen to honor the country’s unity and resilience following a recent and brief military conflict with India in May 2025.

According to statements from the Pakistani military, the conflict began with Indian missile strikes, which were codenamed “Operation Sindoor.” These strikes came in the wake of a terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. Pakistan responded with its own retaliatory strikes, which it named “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.” The military has since declared the operation a success, stating that its forces effectively neutralized Indian targets and upheld national sovereignty.

In line with this year’s theme, various organizations have planned special events. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has released a new patriotic song, “Dil Se Pakistan,” which is expected to be a key part of the festivities. Television and radio stations are also set to air special programming to commemorate the day, which aims to not only honor the founders of the nation but also to foster a strong sense of unity and national pride among all Pakistanis.
