After 325 Lives Lost, KP Launches App to Get Aid to Flood Survivors Fast
For families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who have lost everything in the recent floods, getting help just got a little easier.
The KP government has launched a new mobile app called “Digital Disaster Compensation Management” to help speed up financial aid. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced the new tool, which is designed to help people in the hard-hit areas of Buner, Swat, and Bajaur get the money they need without the usual delays. The app was built quickly by the KP Information Technology Board to deal with the ongoing emergency.

The idea is pretty straightforward. People affected by the floods can use the app to upload details and photos of the damage to their homes and file a claim right from their phones. Once verified, the compensation money is sent directly into their bank account. To make sure the system is fair and prevent fraud, it uses features like geo-tagging to confirm the location of the damage.
This new app comes at a critical time. The recent wave of heavy rains and flash floods that began on August 15 has been absolutely devastating for the province. Tragically, reports confirm that 325 people have died and another 156 have been injured. The district of Buner has suffered the most, with a heartbreaking 217 lives lost in that area alone.
During the launch, CM Gandapur called the app a major step forward, saying it will ensure aid is both fast and transparent. He stressed that helping flood victims is the government’s number one priority right now. Alongside the app, the government has also released Rs. 500 million in emergency funds. This money is being sent to the most affected districts, with Buner receiving Rs. 150 million, and Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra getting Rs. 100 million each. Another Rs. 50 million has been set aside for Swat to provide immediate help.
