COAS Asim Munir’s US Visit: A Look at Key Meetings with Political and Military Leaders
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is currently on an official trip to the United States where he’s been holding a series of important meetings. According to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), his schedule has included discussions with senior political and military leaders, as well as an interactive session with the Pakistani community living there.
During his time in Tampa, COAS Munir was present for two significant events at US Central Command (CENTCOM). He attended the retirement ceremony for the outgoing commander, General Michael E. Kurilla, and the change of command ceremony where Admiral Brad Cooper took over. The Field Marshal praised General Kurilla for his strong leadership and for his efforts in improving military cooperation between the two countries. He also congratulated Admiral Cooper, expressing his confidence that they would continue to work together on security issues both nations face.
The Army Chief also met with General Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to discuss topics of shared professional interest. During this meeting, Munir extended an invitation to General Caine to visit Pakistan. On the sidelines of these events, he also had a chance to connect with defense chiefs from various other allied countries.
In a special session with the Pakistani diaspora, the Field Marshal encouraged them to have faith in the country’s future and to play an active role in bringing investments back home. The community, in turn, reiterated their commitment to helping Pakistan’s progress and development.
