DIRBS Gets a Digital Cleanup Is Your Old IMEI Safe?
To make the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS) work better, the PTA has removed old mobile device registration data. This action is part of an effort to improve the system’s overall performance.
This change is expected to help both the PTA and mobile companies operate DIRBS more smoothly and manage the system more effectively.
Additionally, this move is meant to encourage people to register their phones by paying the required FBR duties and taxes. The goal is to create a more organized and legitimate digital environment.
It’s important to remember that any phone that isn’t registered will only stay active on the network for 60 days. If the FBR customs duties and taxes aren’t paid within that time, the device will be blocked again, following the rules of the DIRBS system.
The PTA says it’s still dedicated to keeping Pakistan’s mobile network strong, clear, and easy for consumers to use.
