Flood Threat Forces Emergency School Closures Across Bagh District

Officials in Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, have made the call to close down all schools and educational centers for the next two days. The decision came right after the Meteorological Department issued a serious warning about high flood risks in the area.

An official notice confirmed that both government and private schools will be shut on Monday, August 18th, and Tuesday, August 19th. This is purely a safety measure to make sure all students and staff members are kept out of harm’s way as the region prepares for rough weather.

The weather office is predicting heavy rains and thunderstorms for several districts, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Bagh. They have warned that this intense weather could cause sudden flash floods and landslides, which are a major concern in the hilly parts of the region. Authorities felt that closing schools was the most responsible action to take to prevent any potential accidents during this intense monsoon period.

Meanwhile, the capital city of Islamabad is also bracing for very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Looking at morning temperatures around the country, it was 26°C in Islamabad, 28°C in Lahore and Peshawar, and 29°C in Karachi. Cooler temperatures were recorded in Quetta and Gilgit at 21°C, Murree at 17°C, and Muzaffarabad at 23°C.

In Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, the forecast shows cloudy skies with a chance of rain and storms in areas like Srinagar, Jammu, and Leh. Morning temperatures there ranged from a chilly 10°C in Leh to a much warmer 26°C in Jammu.
