Free Interest & Rs 5.8 Lakh Down Payment? Punjab’s New E-Taxi Deal is Here!
Big news for Lahore! The plan to bring Pakistan’s first-ever electric taxi service to the city is becoming a reality, and the government has just revealed an amazing plan to help people buy these new cars.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially approved the payment plan for the project. If you’ve ever thought about owning an electric vehicle, this might be your chance.
So, how does the deal work?
Let’s say you want to buy an electric car for the taxi service. Here’s how the government is stepping in to make it easier:
- Help with the Down Payment: To start, the Punjab government will pay Rs. 585,000 of the initial down payment for you. This applies to cars that cost between Rs. 4 million and Rs. 10 million.
- Interest-Free Loan: For the rest of the car’s price, you can get a bank loan of up to Rs. 6.5 million. And here’s the best part: the government will pay all the interest on that loan. This means you get an interest-free ride.
To kick things off, the plan is to get around 1,100 electric taxis on the roads of Lahore. The initial vehicles will be imported from China, and a budget of Rs. 2 billion has been set aside for this first phase.
You might be wondering about charging these cars. To handle this, 18 charging stations have already been set up across Lahore, with plans to build even more as the service grows.
The whole idea is to provide a cheaper way to travel, clean up the city’s air by reducing pollution, and bring a modern transport system to Punjab.
