His heroic effort eventually came to an end when Jofra Archer dismissed him, as England managed to bowl India out for 358 in their first innings.
Pant’s willingness to bat through pain, especially with a fractured toe which could potentially rule him out of the rest of the series, has earned him widespread admiration.
