Influencer Crackdown: Why Social Media Stars Are Ignoring Cyber Crime Summons

So, you know how some of the biggest names on social media are always promoting different products and services? It turns out that some of those endorsements are getting them into serious legal trouble. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) is currently looking into a group of popular content creators for advertising gambling apps.

A few well-known personalities, including Rajab Butt, Anas Ali, Iqra Kanwal, Hasnain Shah, and Irum Mehmood, have been sent official notices to appear for questioning. The agency wants them to show up at their Gulberg 2 office on September 15th at 11 a.m. to give their side of the story. The whole point of this is to make sure the legal process is fair for everyone involved.

The thing is, this isn’t the first time the agency has reached out. The notices mention that these influencers were contacted twice before but chose not to cooperate with the investigation. The NCCIA is making it clear that if they don’t show up this time, it will be seen as them having nothing to say in their defense.

These individuals are being accused of promoting online gambling and trading platforms, and of tricking young people into putting their money into unlicensed and unregulated applications. The authorities believe that this was a coordinated effort that led to financial losses for many people. This isn’t a new issue, either. Just recently, on August 17th, another popular YouTuber, Saad ur Rehman, known as “Ducky Bhai,” was arrested at the airport for similar charges related to promoting online betting.
