Maryam Nawaz’s Tokyo Visit Sparks a High-Tech Revolution for Punjab Police

The Punjab Police is set to get a major technological boost, with plans to equip the force with advanced infrared and ultrasonic technology modeled after the police in Japan.

This significant move is being driven by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The plan is expected to be formally launched as soon as she returns from her current tour of Japan. The first phase will kick off with a pilot project right in Lahore to test out the new systems.

The idea took shape during the Chief Minister’s visit to the National Police Agency headquarters in Tokyo, where she took a close look at their operations. She was briefed on how the Japanese police system works, learning that the National Police Agency acts as the central body that oversees all police departments, sets their policies, and even supervises the performance of the country’s Imperial Guards.

Impressed by what she saw, Maryam Nawaz praised Japan’s law and order situation, calling it a model worth following. “We are modernizing the police force in Punjab along these advanced lines,” she stated.

She explained that this new initiative builds on changes already underway back home. “We have given the Punjab Police the freedom to work professionally,” she said, highlighting the establishment of a new Crime Control Department aimed at tackling crime more effectively. According to her, this new department has already led to a better security situation in the province.

In a powerful statement, Maryam Nawaz announced that for the first time, the crime rate in Punjab has dropped by more than 70%. “My mission is peace and progress,” she affirmed.
