‘Pakistan’s Got Talent’ and ‘Pakistan Idol’ Set to Discover the Nation’s Next Stars
Get ready, Pakistan. The global reality TV phenomenon “Got Talent” is officially coming to local screens. Pixel Entertainment has partnered with Fremantle, the company that owns the show’s format, to bring the record-breaking series to the country.
For the first time ever, Pakistani artists, performers, and creators will have a chance to show their skills on “Pakistan’s Got Talent.” The show, created by Simon Cowell, is known for featuring a huge variety of acts, from singers and dancers to comedians, magicians, and more. Auditions are expected to start across the country very soon.
Rizwan Siddiqui, CEO of Pixel Entertainment, is calling this a huge moment for the entertainment industry. He said it’s a chance to find the amazing, diverse, and often hidden talent that’s been waiting in cities and towns all over Pakistan. His team is excited to give these performers a global stage to shine on.
This news follows another big announcement: the return of “Pakistan Idol.” MHL Global recently acquired the rights to bring back the singing competition, which is also owned by Fremantle.
The new season of “Pakistan Idol” will be hosted by actor and comedian Shafaat Ali. The judging panel is stacked with talent, including Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood from the band Strings. A key change this season is that contestants will only be performing Pakistani songs, a decision Zeb Bangash confirmed on her Instagram. Fans have been really positive about this, seeing it as a way to support local music instead of focusing on Bollywood tracks.
Auditions for “Pakistan Idol” have already kicked off, with large crowds of hopefuls showing up in Lahore.
Zoya Merchant, a director at MHL Global, believes the show is more than just TV. She described it as a “cultural movement” and a significant step forward for the country’s creative industry.
The first season of “Pakistan Idol” was back in 2013-14, with Zamad Baig from Lahore taking the win. With both “Pakistan’s Got Talent” and “Pakistan Idol” now in the works, it’s clear that Pakistan’s entertainment scene is on the verge of a major change, creating new opportunities and putting national talent on a global platform.
