Pakistan’s Top Industries Face Audits with New FBR Experts

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad has announced a significant new initiative to strengthen its auditing capabilities. The board plans to hire 102 professionals who specialize in various sectors to conduct thorough audits of 42 key industries across the country.

According to people familiar with the matter, these new hires will be crucial for the FBR’s ability to effectively audit some of Pakistan’s largest industries. To ensure the new experts meet the required standards, a selection committee will carefully review their qualifications. Additionally, human resources firms will be involved in the process to help guarantee the quality of the candidates.

The list of industries slated for these audits is extensive. It includes sectors like automotive, banking, beverages, cement, and aviation. Other areas targeted are ceramics, chemicals, edible oil, and major departmental stores.

The FBR’s new audit plan also covers industries such as electronics, fertilizer, flour mills, and various food importers. Other notable sectors on the list are IT, manufacturing, mobile phones, plastics, and poultry.

In addition to these, the audits will extend to the power, real estate, and restaurant industries, as well as marquee venues. Key sectors like textile, iron and steel, and pharmaceuticals are also on the agenda. The list is rounded out by sugar, rice mills, and tobacco industries.

The sources noted that in the initial phase of this program, audits will be conducted on 17 of these industries.
