Punjab to Hire 8,000+ College Teachers on Temporary Contracts

The Higher Education Department of Punjab just gave the green light to hire over 8,000 College Teaching Interns, or CTIs. This is a big move to help with the staff shortages at public colleges throughout the province. A small number of these spots are set aside for specific groups: 5% for minorities, 3% for people with disabilities, and half a percent for the transgender community.

How Long Will This Last?

If you’re teaching intermediate classes, your term will run for seven months, from October 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026. For those in BS degree programs, the job is for ten months, starting October 1, 2025, and ending July 31, 2026. However, the contract could end sooner if a permanent teacher is hired for your position.

What You Need to Apply

To be considered, you need at least a BS or Master’s degree in the subject you want to teach, with a minimum of a second division. If you have an MPhil or PhD, that’s a big plus and will give you an edge. Your overall academic performance, any advanced degrees, and even a history of being a top student in your university or board will all count towards your score. Your interview performance will also play a key role in the final decision.

Money Matters

The monthly payment for this role is pretty straightforward. You’ll get Rs. 50,000 a month for intermediate-level classes and Rs. 60,000 for BS/graduate-level teaching. The money will be sent directly to your bank account.

A Few Things to Know

There is no age limit for applicants, which is a nice change. You’ll get two days of personal leave each month, but don’t expect any travel or daily allowances. Keep in mind that these are temporary positions, and if your work isn’t up to par, the hiring committee can let you go. The entire process is based on merit, so fairness is the goal. Just a heads-up: using fake or fraudulent documents will get your application canceled immediately and could lead to legal trouble.

The whole point of this program is to quickly get more teachers into government colleges for the 2025-26 school year. It’s a way to make sure that classes can continue without interruption while the department looks for permanent staff.
