Chinese Company to Build Electric Car Factory in Punjab

Punjab’s Electric Dream? Chinese Automaker Unveils Plans for a New EV Factory.

Punjab is on track to get another boost in its growing auto sector, as a Chinese company, Letin Auto Group, has announced it will set up a factory to build small electric cars in the province.

The news came after a high-level team from the company met with Punjab’s Industries and Commerce Minister, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, in Lahore to discuss the project.

The minister rolled out the welcome mat, promising the government’s full cooperation. He highlighted the major perks for companies setting up in the province’s Special Economic Zones, including a full 10-year break on income tax and the ability to import all necessary machinery without paying any duties.

For Punjab, this is big news. Minister Hussain noted that the investment will bring much-needed jobs and give the local economy a lift. It also fits perfectly with the government’s goal to push for cleaner transportation and make Punjab the center of Pakistan’s shift to electric vehicles.

What makes this move interesting is Letin Auto’s recent history. The company went through a major financial restructuring in China just last year. Now, it seems they are looking for a fresh start in new international markets, and Pakistan is on their radar.

Letin Auto isn’t the first to see this opportunity. They are joining a growing list of automakers, including big names like BYD and MG, who are either exploring or already building EVs in Pakistan. With fuel prices constantly on the rise, the move towards electric cars is looking less like a trend and more like the future of driving in the country.
